Materials, Metals and Gemstones
METALS
All silver and gold used in Alice's bespoke pieces and collections are 100 per cent recycled.
GEMSTONES
Beads and semi-precious gemstones are sourced from reliable suppliers that Alice has been using for years and are conflict free.
For diamonds, Alice mainly uses one supplier who guarantees diamonds are also conflict free and follows The Kimberley Process. The Kimberley Process is a system that has been put in place to stop conflict diamonds entering the mainstream rough-diamond market, complying with United Nations resolutions and in adherence to WDC SoW guidelines.
LEATHER
Where possible, Alice uses vegetable tanned leather which is an age-old process and much kinder to the environment than other tanning methods. It takes months rather than days to tan, but helps the leather age beautifully over time.
GUARANTEES AND CERTIFICATES
The Alice Robson collections are all made from Sterling Silver (925), 9ct (375) or 18ct (750) gold and will be hallmarked according to the Hallmarking Act 1973. Individual silver pieces under 7.8g (gold under 1g) are not required to be hallmarked by law and it those cases will not be hallmarked.
Alice can source certified diamonds for bespoke pieces. Certified diamonds command a higher price than uncertified ones and draw a map of the diamond, certifying, colour, clarity and carat size. For all diamond pieces, Alice generally uses a mid-range diamond, good clear colour slightly included… in diamond speak, G/H (colour), SI1 or 2 (clarity). Diamonds are weighed in points, for example a 50pt diamond is 1/2 carat (50pt round diamond is approx 5mm in diameter). It's easy to Google approx carat size of diamonds according to size.
